According to Article 26 paragraph 8 of the Accommodation Services Regulation in Higher Education as issued by the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Türkiye – Official Gazette Nr. 31173, 2 July 2020), with which Koç University accommodation services are obliged to comply, our University should take all necessary and relevant health measures following the directives of the public authorities regarding personal and public health. As a condition of the accommodation, Article 21 paragraph 1 lit. c of the Regulation stipulates that one should not have a contagious disease preventing him/her from living in a communal area.
Within the scope of regulations mentioned above, the students who will accommodate in our dormitories will be asked to present their vaccination cards issued via the e-nabız application (or equivalent official documents for international students) showing the vaccination against COVID-19 to confirm that they do not have a contagious disease preventing them from living in a communal area. Students, who have had the COVID-19 disease are required to submit an official document showing that they have had the disease, including the date of diagnosis and date of end of isolation. In any case, the regulations to be issued by the Ministry of Health, the Council of Higher Education, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, and any other public authorities are reserved.
Regarding the considerations mentioned above, only fully vaccinated students (who had their two doses of vaccination and at least 14 days have passed over their vaccination) will be allowed to stay in the dormitories.
We’d kindly like to remind that, as the duration needed to be fully vaccinated is approximately 6 weeks, you should make your vaccination plan as of today, in order to meet the requirement of being fully vaccinated at the check in date of dormitories.
Those students who had Covid19 infection should get vaccinated 3 months after their infection, in order to check in to the dormitories. Students who had Covid19 infection but their vaccination is not scheduled yet, should make a commitment to get their appointment when it’s due and that they will complete their vaccination, in order to check in to the dorms.
Please find the information regarding Covid-19 questions and answers at this link .
Sixty percent of Koç University students reside in our dormitory buildings, located at Rumelifeneri Campus and West Campus. The reasons for our students’ preference of dormitories are proximity of dormitory buildings to faculties, amenities for studying, availability of communal areas for social activities, and security. Life in dormitories of Koç University, which are going to be your home henceforth, are designed to support academic lives and social activities of our students.
We are working to ensure a comfortable and pleasant life for KU students. Therefore, we prefer to say ‘welcome to your home’ instead of saying ‘welcome to our dormitories’!
